Gotthard
Domino Effect
Nuclear Blast
73:51 - 19 Tracks
Pretty decent hard rock / almost power metal here. It’s got a bit of an 80’s feel to it, well, these guys have been around for a long time… As a matter of fact, they are the biggest selling band inside their home country of Switzerland. They get influences from Whitesnake, Led Zep, you get the idea. They do what they do well, and you might just hear this on the Mosh Pit!

Ministry
The Last Sucker
Megaforce
55:55 - 11 Tracks
Allegedly the last studio album from Ministry, this one doesn’t disappoint. It’s vintage Ministry, although, it doesn’t just jump out at you as much as their last one, but it’s still all pissed off. It has cool catchy riffs, and of course many politically slanted sound clips. This one seems a bit more raw than Rio Grande Blood, but, you know what? You can’t go wrong with Ministry. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

Destination: Oblivion
December Sun
Apocalypse Machine
61:02 - 17 Tracks
This is a bit of an industrial metal/experimental type band. Off the top of my head, it reminds me of Mushroomhead meets Marilyn Manson. Some tracks are cool, some take a long time to go nowhere. You may hear this on the ‘pit, if not, Something Wonderful (the show before the Mosh Pit 8p-11p on WORT) might like to check it out.

High on Fire
Death Is This Communion
Relapse
56:46 - 11 Tracks
They’re back with their first album in two years. The Stoner/Doomy metal masters don’t disappoint with this one, it’s aggressive, produced well, and provides a nice wall of sound to relax to (if you’re a good metalhead of course) There’s a bit of Slayer meets Clutch meets Mastodon and mixed in with good ol Motorhead. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

Machine Head
The Blackening and Beyond
Roadrunner
25:50 - 4 Tracks
This is one of those (rare these days) radio only EPs. I feel special for even having this! It’s released to raise awareness of their upcoming tour. It’s got A couple edits and live versions of “Imperium” and “Halo.” from The Blackening. You can’t go wrong with the lateset Machine Head album, therefore, you can’t go wrong with more from that album, especially live stuff. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

Himsa
Summon In Thunder
Century Media
45:44 - 11 Tracks
After a small intro, the guitars kick in, and I thought I was listening to some black metal song, they just had that certain “black metal” tone. Then the vocals kicked in to what Himsa normally sounds like, pretty good hardcore metal with the intensity turned up a couple of notches. The black metal, intense tone, along with some melodic death sounds, and even metal-core interludes all mix together to make this thing work well. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

Atreyu
Lead Sails Paper Anchor
Victory
40:47 - 11 Tracks
They start off each track seeming to be all straightforward metal, which is pretty good, but then they get into their metal-core singalong sound, which makes them seem all emo and happy. I feel like this release is the most “hot topic” of all of their albums. We’re looking for something no so whiney on the Mosh Pit these days, so this is a maybe.

Invitro
When I Was A Planet
Gridiron
36:03 - 14 Tracks
This is actually the full album, after a few teasers and stuff like that over the last year. This is former Soulfly and Snot guy Mikey Doling’s band. We’ve played some of the other tracks from this earlier. It’s a mix of aggressive metal stuff along with just all out having fun metal… or at least that’s how it sounds. These guys have the chops and they seem to make it work. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

Mehida
Blood and Water
Napalm
47:48 - 11 Tracks
“Progressive Melodic Metal” according to the CD Sleeve, and upon first listen (with those keyboards going boop boop boop) that’s no lie. High pitched clean singing vocals (kind of like Ray from Fates Warning), some good distorted guitar, the keyboards (of course) and some solid drumming round this out.  But, all in all, it’s just another average power metal band. However, you might just hear it on the Mosh Pit!
