The Agonist
Once Only Imagined
Century Media
38:17 - 11 Tracks
Another release in the vein of new wave of metalcore. This new wave is just all out brutal, heavy riffs, cool guitar breaks, brutal vocals, and yet, there are some clean vocals, the cool part about it… yup, female singer. The Clean stuff is really good and sounds like all that euro-femetal that’s out there these days, and the growls are just as brutal as Angela from Arch Enemy. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit.
Arsonists Get All The Girls
The Game Of Life
Century Media
38:33 - 12 Tracks
Sounds brutal and heavy, as many straight up death metal bands out there, but there are some cool melodic parts and guitar solos going on with just heavy brutal rhythm backing it up. The vocals are cookie monster along with some of that metal core screaming. I guess you could say there’s a hint of other technical metal here as well, the bio mentions influences from Dream Theater, Cryptopsy, BtBaM and Despised Icon. I hear mostly Despised Icon, I guess layers and solos could compare to DT and maybe some chaos of BtBaM, and just cool Cryptopic death metal too. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!
Godless Rising
Battle Lords
Moribund
39:45 - 8 Tracks
Just all out black/death metal here. They don’t take long to get going on this one. Just an onslaught of evil from the first note. It’s nothing really groundbreaking of course, but just a heavy, well produced black/death metal album. A few layers of vocals, fast intense drumming and that evil grinding black metal guitar sound give you a soundtrack of blasphemy. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!
As I Lay Dying
An Ocean Between Us (Single)
Metal Blade
3:54 - 1 Track
Well, this is pretty good stuff. Just a heavy brutal metal song. This sure seems to be the norm lately. Just a lot of metal, brutal, heavy stuff. There’s a cool rhythm guitar sound, reminiscent of old bay area thrash in parts. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit.
Horse The Band
Natural Death
Koch
56:08 - 16 Tracks
Ecclectic, heavy, different, unique, and fun. They’re back with a new album, it’s a bit more “professional” I guess… than their last album. As I said, it’s unique as it has many different sounds, yet still stays all together. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!
Fueled By Fire
Spread The Fire
Metal Blade
46:11 - 11 Tracks
Old school thrash! It even has the production to match, it’s not all modern and punchy sounding like most new big band releases, this sounds like something that came right out of the late 80’s! Exodus, Testament sounding stuff. You can’t go wrong with anything that’s just like “old school thrash!”
Turbonegro
Retox
Cooking Vinyl
44:05 - 12 Tracks
I’ve never heard any Turbonegro before this new album. It’s kind of punk-ish, mixed with just plain ol ac/dc rock n roll. It’s kind of punk sounding. It’s not really Mosh Pit material though. I’ll probably pass it along to other WORT programmers.
Korn
Untitled
Virgin
48:47 - 13 Tracks
A new album from Korn. This pretty much continues from their last one… not as fun and catchy as their older stuff when “head” was still in the band, but it’s still a solid release and gives them an excuse to tour and play new stuff.
