Behemoth
The Apostasy
Century Media
39:43 - 11 Tracks
The latest from Behemoth is just like their last few… no fucking around. Brutal, all out, fast, heavy, evil… you got it all. It’s what you should expect from them. Big riffs, speedy fast drumming, demonic vocals, and it’s all capped off by solid clear production, where you can pick out each instrument just fine. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

Nodes of Ranvier
Defined By Struggle
Victory
36:14 - 11 Tracks
This stays pretty heavy and brutal, of course, they are from the new wave of former metalcore bands… They don’t have the emo chorus stuff, but they do have some catchy riffs, angry vocals. This is more metal than metal-core, and yeah, they even have a breakdown or two, but if this sounds right, it’s a real metal breakdown, and not any cheesey deal. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

Still Remains
The Serpent
Roadrunner
41:52 - 11 Tracks
While heavy and brutal in parts, they do get to that “emo” part, but the brutal stuff is very cool and outweighs any of the emo-like choruses. Not to mention, we like to support bands we’ve had in the studio in the past. This is well layered, deep and well put together. There’s a lot going on in each of the heavier songs. Not everything is all out brutal, there are some slow tracks, which of course we’ll filter out for you on the Mosh Pit! But you’ll hear the good stuff!

Constricted
Wide Awake & Breathing
Golden Goat
49:03 - 13 Tracks
This sounds like run of the mill hard rock/metal. The bio sheet drops names of the guys that recorded and mastered this, but I don’t know if they should be proud of it. It sounds a bit muddy and sludgey, unless of course they were going for that… then I’m sorry. Some of the songs are pretty catchy, but overall, it’s just a heavier hard rock album, which usually doesn’t make the cut on the Mosh Pit.

Engineer
The Dregs
Blackmarket Activities
34:20 - 10 Tracks
This is just some run of the mill grungy metal. I don’t really know what else to say about it. It’s loud, in your face, but yet, just not catchy or grabbing my attention. You might hear it on the Mosh Pit.

Dance Club Massacre
Feast Of The Blood Monsters
Blackmarket Activities
28:18 - 10 Tracks
This is pretty heavy and intense, it has a little bit of the Meshuggah vibe musically (not so technical), but the vocals are more like some screamy scrawley abrasive, um, screaming. I guess they could be lumped in with bands like Psyopus. They’re from Chicago and have some keyboards in the mix to fill out the sound, and give it that Dog Fashion Disco sound too. It’s loud, fast, heavy, so you’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit.

40 Below Summer
Rain
Crash
49:18 - 12 Tracks
Well, it’s 40 Below Summer… in the past, these guys were a Mosh Pit band, then the rest of the scene caught up to them and got popular and metal got heavier… This still has a bit of the nu-metal sound. The music is kinda heavy, mixed with clean vocals and growls. Cool layered choruses and catchy tunes… You might hear this on the Mosh Pit this week…

Dekapitator
The Storm Before The Calm
Relapse
40:00 -9 Tracks
Well well well, a throw back on Relapse records… These guys have that old school Testament/Exodus sound. Good solid catchy old school thrash sounding stuff. I can just see the bass player whipping his hair around in a windmill. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

Mondo Generator
Dead Planet
Suburban Noize
52:30 - 17 Tracks
These guys have a buzz around them now, as they will be on Ozzfest this summer. This is the former side-project, now full time band of Nick Oliveri formerly of Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age… now he’s branched out in this band. It’s hard rock mixed with some punk. It’s just nothing really new to me, just some plain ol stuff. If there’s time or a request, you might hear it on the Mosh Pit.

Shift
Creating A Monster
Nightmare
42:26 - 11 Tracks
At first listen, I thought these guys were just like Static X, but as it moved on, they are more of a prog-metal band.  They have a good sound, not really that heavy, probably along the lines of Queensryche on the heavy-meter.  Their instrumental breaks are cool, and the vocals are a bit like David Coverdale.  You might just hear one of these tracks on the Mosh Pit!

Turisas
The Varangian Way
Century Media
42:57 - 8 Tracks
This is kind of power metal from Finland.  It’s just some run of the mill prog-power metal with clean vocals (with an accent), keyboards and sing-a-long choruses!  Some of the songs are kind of catchy, and it does get heavy from time to time, you know, where you’d wanna headbang?  Yeah.  So it’s kind of cool, a bit of that Finnish Folk metal in there, and kind of cheesey in parts.  We are in Wisconsin, so maybe we’ll hear some cheese during the Mosh Pit!
