While not as strong as some previous years, this lineup has some cool strong parts and you can never go wrong with GWAR!! This compilation has something for everybody, so you’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

An extreme experimental metal-core band here. It’s heavy, technical, all over the place, yet still all together. I guess they’d fit into the same mold as the Dillinger Escape Plan, but I think it’s a bit more cool than that. In parts it’s just all out brutal, but then it just changes to something else. It’s pretty cool and not like a lot of the new stuff these days. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

Good ol King Diamond back with Andy LaRocque for the first King Diamond album in 3 years. It’s classic King Diamond. Of course, it’s nothing groundbreaking, but it’s always nice to have a new story from the King. Awesome playing, lyrics about a brother and sister murdered by their father and the boy can’t get to heaven because they accuse him of committing suicide. No matter what it’s about, it’s good stuff from The King. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

It’s pretty brutal, leaning more towards the Hatebreed arm of hardcore, but with some inklings of Unearth, but with their own take on it all. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

The first band signed to “Munky” from Korn’s label, I was expecting some rap-metalley thing to come on the speakers, and nope, a brutal heavy Chimaira-like sound came pounding out. It’s heavy, catchy, laden with riffs and fits nice along with this “new wave of american metal” genre.  You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

A mix of some Static X-ish metal and NINesque rock stuff, it doesn’t however stay all heavy catchy all the time. It’s not too bad, and if I don’t play it on the Mosh Pit, Ryan Parks will play it on Something Wonderful (Mondays from 8-11pm just before the Mosh Pit on WORT!).

This is a bit of a fun-side type project featuring Bobby “Blitz” from Overkill and Dan Lorenzo formerly of Hades. It’s pretty straightforward hard rock/metal, with the unmistakable Blitz vocals and some definite blues influences too. It’s pretty sludgey sounding, as in raw or possibly low budget. Once into listening to it, that perception goes away and it’s just fun to listen to. It’s pretty cool though, right down to the Sax solo on track 2. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!

This band has been around for a while, but only recently, since Grip Inc. is no longer, Gus Chambers is now behind the Mic. It’s cool power/thrash metal with, well, a similar sound to Grip Inc. And, frankly, we at the Mosh Pit like Grip Inc. The production is clean and crisp, it’s heavy, cool solos, playing vocals, everything.

Pretty neat, jammin’ instrumental stuff. I’d have to say, to start off with, it reminded me a bit of King’s X, and the rest of the album compares only to that in the vein of comparable heaviness, and technicality. It has some bits of stoner-metal sound and maybe something like Porcupine Tree, but getting kind of heavy and Clutch-like in parts too. It’s not too bad, maybe we’ll use it as our background music when we talk, or just play a song for you…

Fast, grinding guitar, harsh abrasive vocals, cool breaks, and stuff. It’s not really anything groundbreaking, but it’s nothing that’s old and played out, it’s got its own sound and is truly metal. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!
