The End
43:04 - 11 Tracks
It’s been 11 years since we’ve heard from these guys. This new album sounds crisp, well put together and a no-nonsense black/melodic black metal album. It’s not crazy intense like a Dimmu Borgir, but it’s more like a Dark Tranquillity or At the Gates. This is great stuff, and you’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!
Cataract
Kingdom
Metal Blade
41:26 - 11 Tracks
Mike and I both liked the last Cataract album. At the time, they were doing something that wasn’t so common… metal with a hardcore edge and some great musicianship. Nowadays, metalcore is the norm, but these guys stand out. This is thrashy, aggressive, and makes you want to stomp around and break stuff. It has some raw production, where it sounds a little boomy in parts, but I think that adds to the affect. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!
Speed Kill Hate
Acts of Insanity
Escapi
36:13 - 9 Tracks
A lot of chatter about these guys online and around here and there. “Featuring members of Overkill” is all you hear, so you figure it will sound like them a bit, right? Well, it does a little bit. More shouty/growly vocals, but a straight-ahead thrashy sound backs it up. You will hear this on the Mosh Pit.
Threat Signal
Sampler
Nuclear Blast
7:25 - 2 Tracks
They got the whole Meshuggah thing going on. Throw in some of the clean vocals from Fear Factory along with a bunch of the Fear Factory sound, and you have these guys. It IS produced by Chrisitan Olde Wolbers from Fear Factory, so that explains that part of it.
Spheric Universe Experience
Mental Torments
Nightmare
69:09 - 9 Tracks
This came with the Pyramaze CD, and is French Prog-Power metal. They have well put together songs, with some technical chops, keyboards, clean vox, and not singing about dragons and stuff. If you like Fates Warning, Dream Theater, and that sort, you’d really be into this band. You may hear this on the Mosh Pit!
